Aside from a blossoming career as a sideman with the likes of Jeff Beck, Mick Jagger and Madonna, his time spent with Sugar Hill Records, along with guitarist Skip McDonald and drummer Keith LeBlanc, gave Doug the perfect opportunity to launch a successful solo career. In 1992 he joined American funk metal outfit Living Colour, following the departure of bassist Muzz Skillings, but could do nothing as the band parted company the following year. Having struck up a rapport with Living Colour drummer Will Calhoun, the duo performed as drum and bass act Jungle Funk before the band’s celebrated return in 2000.
