Retro Rocket

Few guitars these days identify with the classic rock ’n’ roll era of the ’50s and ’60s quite like those being produced by Guild Guitars. The company’s iconic Starfire Bass II is now available in a new Flamed Maple version, which made its debut at the instrument at the 2018 Winter NAMM Show. “The Starfire Bass II Flamed Maple is a dual-pickup semi-hollow bass guitar that adds additional sonic options to Guild’s iconic Starfire Bass,” say the esteemed makers at Guild. With flame maple replacing the original mahogany body, the new model also includes dual Guild BS-1 pickups, individual volume, tone and master volume knobs and a pickup selector switch. The neck is mahogany with a central maple strip, an Indian rosewood fingerboard and 21 narrow jumbo frets marked with pearloid dot inlays.
