Korn recruit Tye Trujillo to play bass on their upcoming South American tour.

Californian metallers Korn have recruited Tye Trujillo, the son of Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo and a member of The Helmets, to play bass on their upcoming South American tour. Having single-handedly pioneered the nu-metal sound with their first album in 1994, the band’s regular bassist, Fieldy (whose nickname evolved from an original handle of Garfield, after the ample-cheeked cartoon cat) will rejoin the group in time for their North American tour in May. A statement released on the band’s Facebook page read; “We are bummed Fieldy can’t join us on this run, but excited to do a few gigs with a young player like Tye.” Korn’s six-date South American tour kicks off April 17th in Bogota, Colombia and concludes April 27th in Santiago, Chile. www.korn.com
