Remembering Victor Bailey

This month we’re remembering Victor Bailey, bassist with Weather Report during their final years from 1982 to 1986, who lost his battle with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease on 11th November 2016, aged 56. As per Victor’s wishes, his estate is placing several of his basses, effects and other items used in his personal home studio up for auction on May 14th. One of the basses is the 1986 Pensa Sur that was used on the recording of his first solo release ‘Bottom’s Up’. Proceeds will help fund several special events related to Victor’s memory. “Seeing these items brings back a lot of memories,” said Jack Frisch, Webmaster at VictorBailey.com. “Having work closely with Victor for many years as his tech, transport and assistant, I used to see all of these items in and around his home studio, especially the Fender bar stools and all of these basses up for auction. As much as all of us feel so sad that Victor is gone, we smile knowing it was one of his specific wishes that these basses and various related items be auctioned, so that others could make music with them. There is a special vibe in everyone of those basses!”
