Avishai Cohen releases new album

“The idea with this recording was to say more with less,” says Avishai Cohen of his latest album.  “But it takes experience to get there.”  Arvoles, which translates as ‘Trees’ in the ancient Ladino-language, is very different in both tone and feel from his previous outing 1970. “If you listen to both records back to back, you’d get a pretty good idea of who I am,” says Cohen. ““I see Arvoles as new music. It’s a reflection of my world over the last couple of years.” With poignant melodies providing a powerful narrative thread, and Cohen’s trademark interlocking grooves creating plenty of rhythmic energy, it’s another essential helping from Cohen’s incredibly rich solo career. The new album features the shimmering piano work of Elchin Shirinov and the drumming of Noam David who will both be joining Cohen on the road for an extensive worldwide tour that runs deep into 2020 and coincides with his 50th birthday. Details will be announced later this year.
