This is an intriguing and atmospheric instrumental album from long-time Bela Fleck and the Flecktones saxophonist Jeff Coffin. The band line-up features the fabulous bass maestro Felix Pastorius whose groove-led style blends in perfectly, sneaking through the barrage of cross rhythms from drummer Roy ‘Futureman’ Wooten. The often blues-based themes offer minimal structure for the group to reference; instead they are free to weave together as a seamlessly freewheeling collective. A truly awesome album that for all its wildness contains some killer hooks, this is fiery, authentically gritty music that takes the listener on a New Orleans joyride of epic proportions.
